After breakfast we set off to Bamburgh. We managed to
get parked for free in the Bait@Bamburgh car park from where it was a short
walk onto the beautiful beach.
While Andrew and James had fun digging and damming up a stream, the rest of us
walked along the beach. Bowie had a brilliant time chasing about, greeting and
playing with other dogs and going into the sea.
Andrew and James joined us and had a paddle before we all went back to the Bait
cafe for a drink and a bacon sandwich.
James is learning about Grace Darling at school this term so Catherine and
Andrew took him to the Grace Darling museum while Graeme and Elizabeth took
Bowie up to the lovely cricket ground next to the castle.
It was then time for lunch. There was noisy construction work taking place at
the Lord Crewe pub so we were pleased to find the Middle Inn further up the
hill had a lovely beer garden which fitted the bill much better.
After lunch Andrew went inside Bamburgh Castle whilst the others went to
Seahouses which was very busy. However Bowie had his first ice cream which he
thought was great.
We then headed back to Bamburgh for a drink and scone in the Copper Kettle
whilst we waited for Andrew. Then it was back to the house for a
rest!
